Since our general meeting on March 13, 2010, the Tenants Association has been working on many fronts to put into play the efforts publicized at the meeting. We want to update you on the following:

Unity Pledges:

Our Unity Pledge drive is well under way. Our thanks to all the residents who have sent in their Unity Pledges. As of March 29th, residents in close to 4,000 apartments had already signed pledges to stand together — and that was as our building volunteers had only started their door-to-door canvassing to reach those who hadn’t yet signed. Their goal is to sign up all 11,227 apartments. If you haven’t yet sent in your signed pledge, be sure to give it to your building volunteers when they come knocking. Or mail it in to: Pledge, ST/PCV-TA, P.O. Box 1202, Stuyvesant Station, New York, NY 10009-1202. Or drop it off at the Oval Concierge (276 First Ave, inside the First Ave Loop Road) to the attention of the Tenants Association.

Tenant Advisory Committees Meetings, First Dates

We will announce the first dates for the Tenant Advisory Committees THIS WEEK. The response to our outreach has been high and names are still coming in. As a result of the continued response, we have had to delay setting a date for our first meeting. So that the committees can move ahead, we will only be able to provide those that have contacted us by April 1st with the details of the first meetings. We look forward to the participation of so many talented members of our community. Please remember that committee members must be residents of Stuyvesant Town or Peter Cooper Village and current in their membership dues. We also think it appropriate to ask that they have signed the Unity Pledge.

Dues and Elections:

As announced on March 13th, the board of directors will hold an election in June. This is a reminder that to be eligible to vote, your apartment must be current in requisite dues ($35) on April 30th. If you have joined in the past, and are not current, we will be sending you a renewal reminder by mail by April 15th. To join, renew, or donate please see the Donation section below.

Building Level Volunteers Still Needed:

We still need Building Volunteers. If you have reached out to serve as or to work with a Building Leader but have not heard back from us, call 917-388-9558 or contact us via our contact form. Choose Category, Organization and Volunteering, and Title, Building Volunteer.

Finally, we would just like to say Happy Passover and Easter to all. We have asked our Building Canvassing Volunteers to be respectful of these holy days, so our pace will slow and then pick up in earnest thereafter.
