Safety Town Hall: Video and Electeds’ Letter to the Police Commissioner
The Tenants Association held a safety town hall on February 26, 2026, dealing with the aftermath of the violent attack on a resident last month. Tenants came together in person to voice their concerns, share experiences, and suggest ways to improve safety on the property. The TA’s meeting filled the void left by management’s virtual, highly scripted meeting that didn’t allow for tenant input in real time. Video.
We were joined by State Senator Kristen Gonzalez, State Assembly Member Keith Powers, and City Council Member Virginia Maloney. From the 13th Precinct, Lt. Kenneth Rice, Sgt. Frank Faber, and Officer Farhanullah Bangash attended, with Lt. Rice answering questions.
Our electeds shared details of their conversations with management and committed to meeting with Beam again soon with an action plan based on the results of a poll of the three most critical issues tenants think should be addressed.
Please send your three highest priority issues to [email protected].
Following the meeting, in response to Susan Steinberg’s suggestion, Sen. Gonzalez, AM Powers, and CM Maloney sent a letter to Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch, asking for an increase in staffing at the 13th Precinct.
