Spectrum Bulk Rate for Internet Service
Spectrum Bulk Rate for Internet Service
Management has arranged with Spectrum for a bulk rate for internet service for STPCV residents. The rate is $49.99 a month for up to 1 Gbps, and the new arrangement is to start December 22, 2025.
On Friday, December 12, the TA informed the community that we had asked management for clarification about the bulk rate.
All residents should have received a letter from Spectrum about the change, but some took the letter for junk mail and discarded it. For others, the letter raised more questions than it answered. Management announced the new plan in their e-newsletter of Thursday, December 4. After the TA asked for more information, Beam put up signs in lobbies.
We submitted a list of questions—some from tenants and some from us—to Beam management. We received these responses:
What if I have a current rate lower than $49.99 because I am happy with 100Mbps or 500Mbps?
Spectrum informed Beam that they will automatically upgrade you to the new, faster 1G internet speed, and your existing lower rate will remain in effect until your current promotion ends.
To keep my lower rate, do I have to cancel my current plan and rejoin on December 21?
No, you do not need to cancel your current plan. Spectrum informed Beam that they will automatically upgrade you to the new, faster 1G internet speed and your existing lower rate will remain in effect until your current promotion ends.
What does this offer do to a bundled rate?
Spectrum informed Beam that the existing bundle will remain in effect, except for the internet portion, which will be billed through Livable at the new rate or at your existing lower rate as indicated above.
What if I have a different internet provider and am happy with it? Can I opt out?
Yes, you may stay with your existing internet provider. You are not required to enroll with Spectrum. No action is required.
Using a credit card will cost me a 3.5% interest rate. How do I avoid that?
Livable informed Beam that any associated credit card fees charged by Livable can be avoided by setting up free ACH payments (electronic money transfers).
How long is the $49.99 rate good for?
The $49.99 monthly rate is good for one year.
What about new equipment (modem and router)? Is that free?
Spectrum informed Beam that if a resident requires new equipment to enable the 1G provisioning, it will be upgraded by Spectrum for free and there will be no new fees associated.
What if I need a technician to help install the new equipment? Is this free, or is there a charge?
Spectrum informed Beam that, at this time, a Spectrum technician can assist upon request and their service is free of charge. Spectrum noted that installation charges may be reinstituted at some point, but as of now, residents will not be charged for professional installation.
Is Spectrum price-matching any provider or just people with current Spectrum deals?
Spectrum and Livable informed Beam that as of now, price-matching is only available to current Spectrum customers.
Tenants have informed the TA that they called Spectrum directly instead of Livable and got varying answers.
Beam shared this information with Spectrum, and Spectrum is going to be forwarding resident inquiries directly to Livable to handle.
The letter from Spectrum looked like junk mail. The TA found out that many simply tossed it for that reason or because they were not Spectrum customers and thought it was not relevant to them.
Beam shared this information with Spectrum and Livable so that future communication from them can be more detailed and informative.
Some residents do not receive Beam’s weekly e-newsletter or management emails, and are unaware of important changes such as this.
This service offered to residents is handled by Spectrum and Livable as independent third parties, and not Beam Living. Beam includes resident offerings and deals in the weekly newsletter, but this is not the only source of information that residents receive regarding Spectrum/Livable offerings.
